Addie has had sleep issues for as long as I can remember--so long that I don't remember if she as ever slept normal. She snores, she has sleep apnea, she has night terrors, she has problems falling asleep, she sleep talks, she sucks her thumb while she sleeps--it's just her normal not to sleep normal. Although this is something we are aware of and completely adjusted to, the last year her snoring and apnea seemed to have gotten progressively worse, so after months of having it on our "to do" list, we finally scheduled her to get her tonsils and adenoids out.
This is her the night before surgery or as she called it "getting her snore out":
I didn't get any hospital before pictures because they were running ahead of schedule and whisked her off. This is her trying to wake up from the anesthesia. The doctor said that she had kind of a slower time waking up, but the surgery went great. On a scale of 1-4 he said her adenoids were a 4+++.
Her first few days were not fun. The first night she slept awful. She would not take any medication because she thought it tasted gross, so I laid in her bed with her and gave her popsicles any time she would wake up. She has a toddler bed so it was less that comfortable. The thing that made me the most sad about post-surgery was her little face. She coughed so hard during/right after surgery that she broke a bunch of blood vessels in her cheeks closer to her eyes.
After 3 days of no medication she was pretty miserable--until we discovered tylenol melt-a-ways. She was a different kid and has been doing awesome ever since. Everyday in her prayers she thanks Heavenly Father for helping her get her tonsils out.
And 1 week later she is still doing good. She doesn't snore anymore, but her voice has changed a little. It's not so nasally, and it's not as high pitched. It is taking me a little getting used to, but I am so happy that we are on the recovery end now and not the anticipation end!

She is such a doll! That's not a fun experience, but thankfully, one she most likely won't remember!
