Shots, Treats, and Clapping

Today I took all of my kids to get their flu shot--note to self not a bright idea to take 3 kids to get shots at the same time--my older 2 both kicked the nurse. They weren't trying to be mean, they were just fighting the shot. We managed and got all 3 shots it, but the nurse was happy to see us go. My bribe was that we would make gingerbread houses when we got home with some friends. We just made them out of graham crackers. They weren't fancy, but they had fun. When I was little my mom used to make the coolest gingerbread houses with jolly rancher stained class windows, they always looked really cool-- I am not that good of a mom. I guess we could have bought those premade kits at Costco, but my kids were just as entertained with their houses I deceptively put together with hot glue!

Every year my Grandma and Grandpa King (my kids refer to them as the Grandma and Grandpa King who's house they make applesauce at--they are very descriptive in how they distinguish one grandparent from another) send a package for the kids with something for them to open each day for a few days before Christmas. My kids LOVE this! Anyways, yesterday the package had sweetarts in it. Kennedy was missing school and decided that we needed to have home school and she would like to do math. So they divided their candy by color and then graphed it. So thank you grandma and grandpa for provided not only a treat but an afternoon of entertainment! They also loved the jokes they opened today--their favorite was "what is a monkey's favorite Christmas song?" Jungle bells!

Addie is still super proud of her new found clapping abilities. She is also now attempting to wave--it's more like a backward closing of the fist so kind of a reverse wave--hey whatever works.

Take note, your doctor or sometimes local health district can give kids aged between 4-12 a "Flu mist" instead of a shot. It is just a spray that they spray in the nose. Plus, it's actually cheaper since they don't have to add in the cost of the needle. SO worth looking for!
