It's A Major Award

If you have ever seen "A Christmas Story" you will understand the "major award." Kennedy's school had a poster contest last week for Red Ribbon Week and her poster won for the whole first grade. She worked very hard and was super excited about her big win and her prize which was a frisbee, yo yo, and water bottle. She was also very excited because her friend Clara Bradford was the kindergarten winner so they were winners together!! However, when she was making it and asking what exactly drugs were, I was having a dilemma. I was telling her things like cigarettes were drugs and didn't go into much deeper explanations, but do they want me to tell my six year old that some people use needles to shoot stuff in their blood, or explain that some people harvest marajuana plants, and explain that people run meth labs in their basements?? I think for now, we will just leave the explanation at drugs are bad--we'll save the other details for another day and just be excited with her new frisbee!
